I just played a really chill gig.
There is something about the weird ‘were not going to dance, but we really want to’ vibe in these mid-evening gigs that I kinda love. It allows for a more ribbon like pace that can sustain fair curves because unlike late club sets, it isnt at the service of instant and ever-increasing crunch-stimulation. its like the difference between a really nice 4th gin and tonic on a patio in amsterdam vs. the 7th shot of whisky followed by a line of coke off some hookers chest in a hotel room with a 19 year old fliping through songs on an iPod connected to the TV aux-in like its sunday afternoon back at moms house wishing something would just hit as hard as primetime.
